Talent Development at The Bushnell, a Legacy of Love

A gift from singer Robert E. Darling Jr. combined with great advances in online vocal lessons and master classes capabilities have inspired The Bushnell to create an online platform for innovative, transformative and unique storytelling for creative vocalists ages 15 to 19.

Joyce and Harold Buckingham found their cultural home at The Bushnell, where they brought joy and enthusiasm as passionate patrons, devoted volunteers, and faithful philanthropists. Their planned gifts are part of a lively and compassionate legacy that will make an impact well into the future.

Giving for the Next Generation

The Larsons hold fond memories of attending theatrical productions at The Bushnell, which inspired them to give back and support the performing arts center so that others can celebrate and experience the very best in the performing arts, too.

Creating a Legacy

When asked why I give back, my tongue-in-cheek reply is, "I blame my parents." My late parents (both educators and selfless community volunteers) inspired me through their actions and guidance to try to leave the world in a better place than how it was found.

Jim Lyon: A Part of the Family

Intelligent. Kind. Witty. Generous. These are just a few superlatives that describe Jim Lyon, longtime Bushnell leader and friend. Born in 1930, the same year The Bushnell opened, Jim lived almost his entire life in West Hartford and was part of The Bushnell family for nearly all his, and our, 90 years.

Usher, Ambassador, Friend

Growing up in the North End of Hartford, Alan Schwartz came to The Bushnell as a child, worked here as an usher in his teens, and returned to us in his adult life as a passionate patron, generous donor, and a member of our Board of Ambassadors.

The Libassi Fund For Innovation

“From the typewriter to the computer and the propeller to the jet engine, from insurance to financial services and the bicycle to the electric car, our nation has thrived because of innovation”, says Peter Libassi when speaking about The Libassi Fund for Innovation, an endowed fund that he and his wife, Mary Fran, have created for The Bushnell.
