Creating a Legacy

When asked why I give back, my tongue-in-cheek reply is, "I blame my parents." My late parents (both educators and selfless community volunteers) inspired me through their actions and guidance to try to leave the world in a better place than how it was found.

Passionate about the arts, I am on the Board of Ambassadors advocating for The Bushnell's mission to provide arts, education, and community programs that enrich and enliven the spirit of the local community. The Bushnell is my cultural home and I'm grateful to have local access to high-quality artistic programs!

I give to the Annual Fund as a token of my appreciation and joy from attending performances, and plan to continue my support. Looking ahead, my estate plan allows me to provide for the people and causes that I care most about, including The Bushnell.

For me, the word legacy is a reminder that we all have limited time and helps give me perspective on what's important, the kind of life I want to live, and the kind of world I want to live in and ultimately leave behind for future generations. Creating a legacy actually begins during our lifetime. It may entail the giving of time, talent, and/or treasure (not subject to a minimum dollar threshold) and continues with any support we may leave for the future. It is something personally meaningful, which, by definition, will be different for each one of us.

I believe each Bushnell legacy donor (past, present, and future) is like one of the bricks in the construction of The Bushnell itself: Each one is unique and important but stronger together to stand the test of time.

There are many ways you can make The Bushnell a part of your legacy. Contact Ellen Nattila at (860) 987-6071 or enattila@bushnell.org to explore the giving options available to you.
