Your Impact on Our Community

Group play timeOne way your support, whether now or with a legacy gift, impacts our community is through The Bushnell’s arts-in-education programs. In collaboration with school districts across the capital region, The Bushnell makes a meaningful difference in the lives of students through its flagship education program, PARTNERS®. This nationally recognized, arts-integration program reaches 15,000-20,000 K-12 students annually at more than 30 area schools.

For nearly three decades, PARTNERS has maintained a strong presence in Greater Hartford’s urban schools, where the student population faces significant challenges, including poverty and dislocation, as well as language and cultural barriers. PARTNERS provides hands-on, in-classroom programming to improve literacy and increase intercultural competencies of students by deploying the arts to deepen and enrich core language arts curriculum.

In the past two years, The Bushnell’s education team has incorporated digital technology as an essential element of PARTNERS. The program is designed with a spirit of innovation and creativity as we aim to expand K-12 education from textbook-based, one-directional teaching to self-guided, interactive, experiential learning. Little did we know when we incorporated digital technology into PARTNERS how essential it would be to schools relying on remote learning during the past year due to the pandemic.
